CSBG Makes Our Work Possible
The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is the backbone of the Community Action ecosystem, enabling Community Action Agencies (CAAs) to deliver programs and services that address poverty, strengthen families, and build thriving communities across Kentucky. Advocating for CSBG means advocating for the resources that rely on its support, including programs like LIHEAP, housing assistance, job training, Head Start, and more.
CSBG funding provides the foundation for leveraging additional funding streams, forming partnerships, and creating tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of Kentucky’s families. It empowers CAAs to provide comprehensive support that addresses the root causes of poverty and helps individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency.
A Network of Local Solutions
Kentucky’s Community Action Agencies are a network of 23 locally led, community-focused organizations that serve all 120 counties across the Commonwealth. These agencies are dedicated to addressing poverty and creating opportunities for self-sufficiency. By working hand-in-hand with local businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies, CAAs amplify the impact of CSBG funding. These partnerships allow us to leverage additional resources and provide holistic, multi-faceted support to families in need.
